Christian EhrentrautChristian Ehrentraut is director of Eigen+Art Gallery in Berlin and expert in painting. Since running the legendary project space LIGA 2002 he is much in charge for the success of the so-called "Young Leipzig Painters", launching the careers of artists as Tilo Baumgaertel, Tim Eitel, Martin Kobe, Christoph Ruckhäberle, Franziska Holstein, David Schnell, Matthias Weischer and many others. He has curated shows for numerous museums and institutions too and will speak with us about his experience with young artists on the rise.

Gallery Weekend BerlinFounded in 2004 by a group of leading Berlin galleries, Gallery Weekend Berlin has established itself as a highlight of the international art calendar, welcoming numerous visitors from around the world to the city. It celebrates galleries and artists within this unique format that provides admirable exhibitions and an unparalleled experience of Berlin and its gallery spaces. During the Gallery Weekend we will visit Dozens of exhibitions and openings spread in different hot spots of the city.

Baumwollspinnerei In 2025, the Spinnerei in Leipzig celebrates the 20th anniversary of its Gallery Rundgang that has become a cornerstone of the city's contemporary art scene. This vibrant creative center, housed in a former cotton mill, features numerous galleries and artist studios and experimental exhibition spaces. During the Rundgang weekends, visitors can explore a diverse array of artworks—from painting and sculpture to photography and installations—while engaging directly with artists in their studios. The event has been instrumental in establishing the Spinnerei as a dynamic hub for artistic innovation and cultural exchange.

Galerie EIGEN + ART Galerie EIGEN + ART, located at the Baumwollspinnerei, has played a key role in the development of the Leipzig art scene. It was founded in 1983 by Gerd Harry Lybke in Leipzig as an underground exhibition space, supporting artists of the emerging East German subculture. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, the gallery gained a wide recognition, expanding its activities internationally and representing major artists from the Leipzig School. In 1992, Lybke opened a second eponymous space in Berlin and established one of the leading galleries in the country. During the Gallery Weekend in Leipzig, the gallery is showing a solo exhibition by Neo Rauch.

Neo Rauch Neo Rauch于1960年出生在莱比锡，是德国当代最著名的画家之一。他以其超现实、梦幻般的作品著称，作品将社会主义、现实主义、流行文化及幻想元素融合，他的画作通常描绘工业或特定历史背景下的神秘人物，营造出怀旧、神秘及反乌托邦的不安感。受东德成长背景的影响，Rauch的作品探讨了记忆、意识形态与潜意识等主题，使他成为当代具象绘画中最具独特性的声音之一。

Neo Rauch Born in Leipzig in 1960, Neo Rauch is one of the most prominent German painters. Rauch is best known for his surreal, dreamlike compositions that blend socialist realism with pop culture and fantasy elements. His work often features enigmatic figures in industrial or historical settings, creating a sense of nostalgia, mystery, and dystopian unease. Influenced by his upbringing in East Germany, Rauch’s paintings explore themes of memory, ideology, and the subconscious, making him one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary figurative painting.

 Christina Werner是一位策展人，她与Olafur Eliasson合作运营空间实验研究所（Institute for Spatial Experiments）。并深度参与研究所的教学、策展、主持、批评及项目开发工作。Christina Werner 曾担任2014年Neue Nationalgalerie和2017年Hamburger Bahnhof “未来现在节”（Future Now Festival）的艺术总监，并自2018年起担任该项目工作坊和展览“巴格达漫步”（Baghdad Walk）的策展人。我们将与她一起进行一次“柏林漫步”，并随后参访Christina Werner的工作室。

Christina Werner Christina Werner is a curator and co-director of Olafur Eliasson's Institut für Raumexperimente. She is involved in teaching, curating, moderating, critiquing, and developing the institute’s wide-ranging activities. Christina Werner was the artistic director of the “Future Now Festival” at Neue Nationalgalerie (2014) and Hamburger Bahnhof (2017), and is currently curator of the workshop and exhibition series "Baghdad Walk" since 2018. We will meet her for a "Berlin Walk" and will visit later on the studio of Christina Werner.

Olafur Eliasson Born in 1967, Eliasson grew up in Iceland and Denmark, where he studied from 1989 to 1995 at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. In 1995, he moved to Berlin and founded Studio Olafur Eliasson. Since 1997, his wide-ranging solo shows – featuring environmental art, installations, sculptures, photography, and film – have appeared in major museums around the globe. He represented Denmark at the 50th Venice Biennale in 2003 and later that year installed “The weather project”, an enormous artificial sun shrouded by mist, in the Turbine Hall of Tate Modern, London, which was seen by more than two million people. As a professor at the Berlin University of the Arts, Eliasson led the Institut für Raumexperimente (Institute for Spatial Experiments; 2009–14), a five-year experimental program in arts education located in the same building as his studio.

Daniel Knorr Daniel Knorr lives and works in Berlin and Hong Kong. His international cross-genre practice is often reflecting economic and socio-political phenomena based on much research and humor. The relationship between public and private, ephemeral and monumental is one of his central topics, blurring borders between the rational and visible. His work has been on view at the most prominent international exhibitions at Documenta, Venice Biennale, Berlin Biennale and Manifesta. He will share with us about his recent work and studio in China.

The Center for Visual Arts Berlin The Center for Visual Arts Berlin (CVAB) is a non-profit cultural institution deeply rooted in the German and Chinese Art and Design scene. It is dedicated to promoting contemporary art, design and intercultural exchange both in Europe and Asia. CVAB organizes a diverse cultural, artistic and educational program, aimed at supporting artists, students and an international audience interested in the visual arts, history and culture of these continents. CVAB's headquarters are located in Berlin, a city that for years has now experienced an artistic and cultural boom unlike any other in Europe and provides the center with a multitude of opportunities to enrich its program and fulfill its mission.

Andreas Greiner Andreas Greiner is an artist and professor for media art at the Muthesius Academy in Kiel. He is a passionate nature explorer with a versatile practice ranging from time-based to living sculptures. Greiner is also one of the pioneering artists involving artificial intelligence in his artistic experiments and multimedia installations. He had recently major solo exhibitions at Berlinische Galerie, Kunsthalle Bielefeld and the Mönchehaus Museum Goslar as the 34th recipient of the Kaiserring emerging-artist award. In Berlin we will visit him in his studio at the Malzfabrik, run in close collaboration with the colleagues Julius von Bismarck, Julian Charriere and Raul Walch.
